Every couple wants their wedding to reflect their unique personalities. “A great way to personalize your wedding is to serve cocktails that reflect what you like to drink,” says Kathy Nunes, a product consultant for the LCBO in Toronto. Nunes pulled together some unique and trendy ideas for every kind of couple.
For the older or more traditional couple
“Serving some bubbly is always a sign of a celebration,” she says. In fact, there has been an increase in consumption of champagne and sparkling wine on the global market.
Mix your drink with some of the biggest trends such as fresh fruit, berries, herbs and spices. “Add a splash of juice to sparkling wine and garnish with herbs,” says Kathy.
Serve it in a champagne flute.
For the casual couple
You’ve probably been hearing a lot about beer cocktails lately. “It’s a classier way to drink beer and involves mixing lager with sparkling soda or ginger ale,” says Kathy. It could be a perfect option for couples who enjoy sports, have an appreciation for beer and want a more casual and relaxed feel for their wedding.
Serve in a ½ pint glass.
For the creative couple
A drink called Black and Tan is a great option for more artistic couples. That’s because this drink involves layering pale beer with stout using the back of a spoon. You can even substitute pale ale for sparkling wine for a very artistic effect.
Serve in a ½ pint glass.
For the young or fun-loving couple:
Kathy recommends a drink called the Frangolina. “This is a fun, fruity drink that combines sparkling wine with strawberry beer and mint garnish.”
Sangria is also a great option, especially for summer weddings. It adds seasonal fruits to wine in a wine glass for a fun and fruity option.

For couples who love all things vintage:
There are some great classic cocktails for couples who love old-world charm. There’s the Manhattan, served in a rock glass, an Old Fashioned, in a martini glass, and a French 75, which combines lemon juice, gin, orange liqueur and sparkling wine in a champagne flute.

Of course, remind your guests to be socially responsible and never let them drink and drive.
