Irene & Michael
Jamaica’s Iberostar Rosehall Beach Hotel set the scene for this tropical destination wedding. Returning to the groom’s home country made this day extra special for the couple, family and friends.
Sight unseen: For most destination weddings, the trickiest part is planning at a venue and working with a team that you never actually get to see in person. “It was hard in planning as we only had pictures to look at and had to trust in our wedding planner when she would describe how things would look and function,” says Irene.
Favourite parts: The bride and groom agree on their two favourite moments. Irene says, “When we first saw each other for the pictures together before the ceremony. Merrick (the photographer) made it playful and romantic with the poses we did for that. Second, that moment as Michael was at the altar, all our family and friends in the audience and I walked down the aisle with my two older sons escorting me.”
Advice to couples: After planning a destination wedding, the couple has some words of wisdom. “Get a good wedding planner. Spend on the photography – it is worth it. You need the best pictures to capture those stunning moments. Incorporate the culture (food, etc.) into the wedding. Enjoy and have fun!”
Vendor love: It all came together with planning from The Destination Collective, florals by D’Mar Events and travel by Unforgettable Escapes, with photography by Merrick Cousley Photography.
