Zoe & Michael
This small wedding, held at a family home, went off without a hitch. Read below to learn what the bride had to say about the perfect day.
Tell me a bit about your love story: Michael and I met in nursing school, being one of the few men in nursing, I use to stare at him a lot during lectures. It was then several years later, after much staring, that we formally met at a bus stop in the middle of an Ontario winter. We got to talking and I happened to have a backpack full of Dutch pea soup (my Super Oma’s recipe), which I offered to Michael. And the rest is history.
What were your original plans for your wedding day? We always wanted a smaller (if you can call 70 people small) wedding. We both come from large families and 70 people only included immediate family and close friends. We opted for an outdoor wedding, which allowed for a lot more flexibility with COVID. Honestly, we just hit a really good time in the pandemic and didn’t have to change anything.
What was your favourite part of the day? My Dad singing and playing guitar for our first dance. The song was a surprise and he picked “Moon River”.
Favourite wedding detail? Probably my wedding invitations that my Dad designed.
What will guests remember most? Hopefully that the day was full of love!
What advice can you give to couples who are planning their wedding? Don’t stress the details. Everything will come together and you won’t even care or remember what napkin rings you had.

Dear Zoe and Michael,
How lovely to see all these photos from your wedding. It was such a blessing to be part of your wedding, to spread rose petals along your pathway. What a wonderful wedding that was, full of love, thoughtfully planned, lovingly executed. I’ll never forget that day. Love you both very much.
