Barn weddings are a great not-so-indoor option for weddings. Barns provide a rustic, romantic vibe, plenty of space and an outdoorsy environment. Before you book any old barn be sure to check on the following:
- Is it rain proof? Sometimes “rustic” means holes in the roof. So if it rains, do you have a back-up plan?
- Climate control. Barns can be really warm…or really cold! Have fans and/or heaters on hand (in a safe way, of course!).
- Are bathrooms available? Your great grandmother may not love the idea of an outhouse or porta-potty. Be sure bathrooms are convenient for your guests.
- Proper lighting. Twinkle lights are beautiful but might not provide enough light to actually see anything – like your dinner, for example. If you require extra lighting, be sure the barn has enough voltage for your needs.
- Is there a full kitchen? Running water? Everything needed to create a beautiful wedding feast? If not, explore your catering options.
- Is parking easily accessible? Be sure that guests with mobility issues will have no trouble getting to the venue.
- Considere the environment – bugs, allergies, etc.
