Amaris and Lisa Pozeg
These two sporty girls met through dodgeball and bonded over their love of competition. Over time, that friendship and competitive spirit grew into love. They dated for three years before Amaris proposed, in front of 20 cheering women on a mother-daughter weekend getaway. One year later, they tied the knot.
Favourite part of the day: The first look! Amaris says, “The first look went off without a hitch. We got ready at the venue on different floors with our wedding parties and family. Then we walked the four minutes around the corner to the corner coffee shop we went to for our first dates. We did our first look right there on the corner. We couldn’t stop smiling and sharing the day’s events and stories up to that point. The stress and nerves were gone…it was a party and my cheeks hurt from smiling. We did the photos all together using the cityscape as a backdrop – and then it hit me: man we aren’t even married yet! I got such a rush of excitement when I realized we had a whole party to go (and, well, a wedding for that matter). I promised myself I would be present on that day and recognize every moment for what it was.”
The perfect ceremony: Clocking in at around 20 minutes, the ceremony was light-hearted, but meaningful. The bar was open prior and during, so guests were able to watch the ladies exchange vows with a drink in hand. Amaris’s son Wilson played a big role, giving his mom away and presenting the rings. Lisa wrote vows specifically for Wilson, promising to love him like her own and always be there for him.
Party time: Amaris says, “A very unique part of our wedding is that we did a reception right after the ceremony in the same space. Basically the bar opened and people started to mix and mingle. We then came back into that room unofficially and unannounced with our wedding party and basically got to see everyone in an unofficial receiving line. Because our pictures were already done we got to actually enjoy our cocktail reception and avoided the long, drawn-out process of a receiving line. After the hour guests moved to the second floor of the venue for dinner. We waited back and were then officially announced into dinner. I would highly recommend that everyone do this! Lisa’s uncle even cracked out the accordion and we got to enjoy a pre-dinner polka (a must for Croatian/Slovanians).”

Best wedding attended. We were relaxed and enjoyed the whole affair. It was well thought out and very tastefully managed. The photography was tastefully managed without detracting from the Brides or guests. It seemed to flow.
We were not forced into a role playing thing but could relax and enjoy the happy day. Congratulations to a successful union and a fun time. Good venue and good planning made it an enjoyable day. I am glad I was there for there special day.
