Anastasia Giaouris’ and Kiron Mukherjee’s high school romance blossomed into something so much more after they were paired as lab partners in their grade 10 science class. They shared a love for words: Kiron writing songs and Anastasia writing poetry. During lunch one day, Kiron confessed his feelings through a song.
Eight years later, the past was mirrored in the present when Kiron proposed in a similar way. He wrote a song about their relationship and his hopes for the future and performed it with his guitar at the couple’s home. He ended the song with, “Darling, will you marry me?” and pulled out a ring from his pocket.
They exchanged vows in front of 90 guests at the Gardiner Museum in Toronto and held their reception at the Mercatto – Mars location on June 17, 2012. Many of the wedding’s reception details were DIY, which followed a modern-rustic theme using grey, green and white as the main colours. Guests goofed off in front of a photo booth provided by Take My Photo and received cake pop favours made by family friends.
It meant a lot to Anastasia to have her good childhood friend Lucah, the best friend of her recently deceased brother, play MC at their reception.
See their wedding photos come to life with this video created by their friends Claire and Neil. Music includes Baby I’m Yours by Arctic Monkeys, Whether the Weather written and performed by Kiron Mukherjee and Brand New Start by Little Joy
