Leyna and Craig’s love story was all about timing. After approximately a year of seeing each other in passing at church on Sundays, Craig’s mother introduced the two and after 8 months they were officially a couple.
The following spring Craig casually asked Leyna if she wanted to spend the day on Toronto Island. Leyna and Craig ended up on a quiet spot on the beach, which was difficult to find given it was Victoria Day weekend, and just as Leyna was ready to relax Craig got down on one knee! And so their wedding planning began.
The couple recall reciting their vows as their favourite wedding moment. “There were many great moments throughout the day including getting ready with my bridesmaids; taking photos; seeing one another for the first time that day and of course celebrating afterwards with our closest family and friends,” says the bride. “When the time came to commit ourselves to one another before God, that was a moment that stuck out the most because we cherished the fact that this was a once in a lifetime promise.”
The newlyweds noted that it was difficult to choose their favourite wedding detail, but if Leyna had to choose just one it would be their flowers. “One of the colours that we chose was yellow so the bouquets consisted of a variety of flowers in different shades of yellow,” says Leyna. “Part of the reason why this particular wedding detail is my favourite is because my mom, who used to run her own flower arrangement business, made the bouquets, boutonnieres and arrangements for the ceremony and so that made it extra special.”
