ET Canada host Rick Campanelli and Marilyn Denis producer Angie Smith were married before 110 guests at Sassafraz in Toronto. They combined the themes of cozy chalet chic (in terms of lighting and ambience) and Hollywood glam (for attire, décor and flowers) to set the stage for a romantic and memorable ceremony and reception.
The couple met during a chance encounter 13 years ago, when Rick was known best as “The Temp” on MuchMusic. Years later they met again as colleagues at Entertainment Tonight Canada. Soon after, they moved from “just friends” to the “best of friends.”
They have travelled the world together – from Cambodia and Italy to Paris and Hong Kong – but, says Angie, “the best moments are on our weekends together when we first wake up, turn on our favourite shows (for hours upon hours) and lay with one another, just catching up.”
Angie’s favourite wedding planning moment was cake testing at Connie Cupcake with her mom, when everything suddenly became real. “During the wedding, the venue, flowers and décor blew our minds. Neither of us saw anything until the moment we first walked down the aisle. It was breathtaking,” says Angie. For favours, donations were made to Toronto Cat Rescue and Charity Water.
