Adam and Gabriel exchanged vows at the Toronto Botanical Garden before 80 guests. The theme was a garden wedding and the colours were midnight blue and ivory.
The couple met on Plenty of Fish in 2008 and began keeping in touch every night online. After three weeks, they exchanged phone numbers and made plans to meet for the first time at brunch. However, Gabriel texted Adam late Halloween night and suggested meeting a day earlier and joining the street Halloween festivities. After sharing all the fun, they decided to go ahead and meet the next day as originally planned. That brunch lasted eight hours as they explored the city and found so many common interests.
After four years, Adam proposed to Gabriel at midnight on New Year’s Eve 2013, even dropping to one knee in the middle of the road in Bocas Del Toro, Panama as fireworks lit the sky.
“My favourite wedding moment was having our photos done before the ceremony,” says Adam. “It was perfect as we prepared to share the day with our friends.”
Another fun addition: A surprise drag queen performance by Toronto’s Miss Conception. “It was the ideal segue from the emotional speeches during the reception to the fun dance party. It was spectacular!”
