In the breathtaking beauty of St. Ann, Jamaica, this styled shoot at Borghinvilla Wedding Venue was the essence of a lush, tropical romance. If you’re planning a destination wedding in Jamaica, this event will give you inspiration on how to make it something you’ll never forget.
“With its dramatic cliffs, crystal-clear waters and gorgeous gardens, Borghinvilla provided the perfect backdrop for a wedding that blends natural beauty with modern sophistication,” says Danielle Andrews, president of The Wedding Planners Institute of Canada (WPIC) and one of the designers behind this wedding project. “Every detail was thoughtfully curated to highlight the unique character of this destination venue and to inspire couples dreaming of a destination wedding in Jamaica as vibrant and unforgettable as their love story.”
The models brought their rich cultural roots, which added even more depth to the setting, notes Andrews. The groom, though Canadian, has Trinidadian and Ecuadorian heritage, while the bride is from Jamaica with Jamaican-Chinese roots as well.
This diverse Caribbean background influenced Andrews and her team’s vision, inspiring them to incorporate elements that celebrated the vibrancy and warmth of the couple’s shared island roots.
An intimate moment
The day began with a glamorous first look, where the groom arrived in a sleek Mercedes to find his bride waiting in front of Borghinvilla’s grand entrance, says Andrews. Against the villa’s stunning architecture and lush tropical surroundings, the couple shared a private, heartfelt moment, setting the tone for the rest of the celebration.
Before the ceremony, they enjoyed a quiet poolside toast at a beautifully styled Mimosa bar, where fresh tropical fruits and chilled champagne awaited them. This intimate pre-ceremony ritual, surrounded by the vibrant flowers floating in the pool, offered the couple a chance to soak in the joy and excitement of the day.
Setting the scene
The theme for this destination wedding in Jamaica, Tropical Romance, came to life through an overabundance of fuchsia and red roses intertwined with monstera leaves, setting a lush, exotic atmosphere from ceremony to celebration. The ceremony arch, overflowing with hundreds of vibrant blooms, created a captivating focal point, enhanced by a sparkling chandelier and a delicate crystal curtain backdrop. This transparent curtain provided an elegant frame for the couple without obstructing the view of Borghinvilla’s rugged cliffs and the endless blue sea beyond.
After exchanging vows, the couple transitioned to a chic reception area adorned with sheer fuchsia curtains and another magnificent floral arch. A mirrored table served as the centrepiece, brimming with even more fuchsia and roses, monstera leaves and elegant tableware. Flowers floated across the pool, and the garden swing, wrapped in blooms and greenery, invited guests to enjoy the space from every angle. There were custom-etched coconuts and a tropical cake adorned with coconuts.
The outfits of the day
At our destination wedding in Jamaica, the bride and groom radiated style with three distinct looks throughout the day. For the ceremony, the bride wore a stunning strapless ballgown, while the groom looked dashing in a green linen suit that added an effortless island charm.
At the reception, the bride’s look transformed to an elegant beaded blush gown, complementing the groom’s salmon pink linen suit.
To end the day on a playful note, the couple donned chic swimwear for a poolside champagne toast. The bride’s asymmetrical white swimsuit with oversized floral accents and the groom’s fitted black-and- white bathing trunks were perfect for a champagne moment on a clear kayak – a fun, adventurous touch that captured the spirit of the Caribbean.
Every bloom, detail and moment brought this vision of Tropical Romance to life, says Andrews, capturing the possibilities of a Borghinvilla wedding and leaving everyone inspired by this dreamy destination.
