A wedding invitation is your invitation to be creative, says Megan Wappel of Megan Wappel Designs.
Your invite speaks to what kind of wedding your guests are about to attend. A formal wedding requires a formal invitation. A backyard barbeque wedding invitation can be casual or witty.
Consider type of paper, impressive printing style such as letterpress, hand calligraphy on envelopes, colours (near-neutrals such as pinks, blush and ivories are elegant) and adding hints of gold. “You can add a modern print like a bold stripe to an otherwise soft invitation,” says Megan. “It really makes the invite pop.”
Also consider cost. Any square or odd shape will require extra postage. Also consider weight. Heavy stock can be impressive but increases the weight which, in turn, adds to the cost.
