With the inability to travel and being in what feels like a perpetual state of lockdown, why not bring a little California sunshine to Chelsea, QC? This shoot was inspired by many of those 2020 couples who had to downsize or completely change their original wedding plans, often resorting to thinking outside the box for venue alternatives. Café Palmier offered the perfect setting to play on those Palm Springs, CA vibes.
Amelia, wedding planner at Amelia Carleton Wedding + Event Planning, describes her vision: “I liked the juxtaposition of soft, pink, and neutral elements (cake, florals, velvet linens) with the all-black kind of rock ‘n’ roll elements (‘Just Married’ jacket, grooms attire). I wanted to mix an elegant boho aesthetic with vibrancy and edginess.
The dress from Sinders Bridal is in the style “Bowie” from All Who Wander. It features a stunning lacy pointed train with matching sleeves that captures an ethereal beauty that really brought the vision to life. We paired it with exceptionally vibrant florals from Riverwood Gardens that actually feature a family heirloom – the florist’s grandmother’s cactus! And rather than a traditional champagne toast, I included tequila and shot glasses on the table for a “celebratory shot” – my nod to all the non-traditional couples out there, reminding them that your wedding or elopement can be whatever you want it to be!”
