Fit is everything
Don’t get carried away by fashion. Your dress has to look as if it were designed and fitted, just for you.
Colour control
For any special event, the most flattering dresses are those with a single colour from head to toe instead of breaking the line with different colours in top and bottom.
If it must be a two-tone ensemble, keep the darkest colour on the bottom.
Solid colours stand the test of time. Patterns come and go and often seem dated. Think ahead. These photos last forever.
Great legs, short dress
Why not show off your best feature? If it’s your legs, go for a just-to-the-knee flirty dress, perhaps with a skirt cut on the bias that gives movement.
A great hemline. Maybe a drape to one side, or perhaps a handkerchief hemline. When you hit the dance floor, all eyes will be on you.
Glamourous or safe?
Go for glamour. If you have the figure for it – why not a strapless or one-shoulder sexy gown? Wear a shrug for the service.
Accessorizing
- Choose a small evening bag. The best choice will be one with a handle or chain so you can just slip it over your arm for safe-keeping.
- High heels are a plus. Do what brides do. Have high heels for the main event and low heels for the party. Of course, bare feet are always an option as the party revs up. Make sure your feet are well pedicured!
- Bling! Wear just one piece of great jewellery. It may be show-stopping earrings. A great necklace. A standout bracelet. Don’t overdo it.
