Cynthia Gwendo & Brayden Sanclemente
The advice from this couple? Let the little things go and focus on the love.
Celebrating culture: The bride and groom changed into second outfits. “This was to honour my Kenyan culture,” says Cynthia. “And it also signified the merging of our two backgrounds. There’s also a Kenyan tradition in which the women of the tribe will walk and sing with the bride after the ceremony. We didn’t get to do this at the usual point, so my mom and aunt got the women to sing for us during our reception. It was a powerful moment!”
Regrets: “I would have had more bridesmaids,” says Cynthia. The bride didn’t want an uneven amount of attendants, so wasn’t able to ask a very good friend to be in the wedding. “She was still very involved in my planning and was basically an honorary bridesmaid, but I definitely wish I had asked her to be an actual bridesmaid!”
Honeymoon: Cynthia says, “We love road trips so we drove to B.C., stayed in Vancouver for a week, went to the island for four days, drove back to Vancouver and stayed in Calgary for the last weekend.”
