Karen and Mark were wed in Prince Edward County at Fields on West Lake, the exact spot where they first realized they were in love. They spent their engagement planning an intimate wedding that would reflect their shared identities. The event was very personal, including the groom’s mother baking all the desserts.
The couple incorporated Karen’s Jewish heritage into the ceremony; they married under the chuppah, did the breaking of the glass and the Hora. They also performed a Hand Fasting ritual in which their hands were wrapped in ribbons each time they made a promise to each other.
Rustic chic was the theme of the wedding, so the couple made their own signs using wooden chalkboards and wine-bottle centrepieces. Karen danced the night away in hot pink shoes and provided guests with flip flops, too!
