Surprise your guests with your imagination. Invest a little time and a lot of patience and create original ideas for your reception.
Table Numbers
The table numbers provided by reception sites are basic and don’t contribute to a pretty table. You can make your own. On your computer, make ovals and add a fancy border. With an interesting font, centre the table number. Print out two sets on heavy paper and cut and glue so the numbers are two-sided. Slip them into card holders. For extra pizazz, border them with strips of fabric.
Boxed Candy
Buy small boxes and fill with Jordan almonds, miniature chocolates, fudge or nuts. Tie the boxes with a pretty ribbon to make an attractive presentation – one for each guest.
Place Cards
If you want to guide your guests to a specific seat, rely on your computer to make individual name cards. Use an unusual font and print them out on interesting paper. Centre the individual names on the bottom half of a square, fold them in half and they will support themselves. Arrange them alphabetically on a table outside the reception room.
Cookie Plus
A guest gift might be personalized cookies. Buy plain sugar cookies. Ice with the colour theme of your wedding. (Mix icing sugar with water instead of milk so it will harden.) When the icing is hard, use the tools in a decorative icing kit, add a huge initial or, if you have a steady hand, the fi rst name of each guest. If you use the full name, the cookies can do double-duty and serve as place cards.
