If you’ve already been to a hundred bridal showers with a tea party theme, try a beer-tasting party instead. Beer is becoming more popular among the fairer sex and here’s why:
Beer doesn’t have as many calories as you might think.
No alcoholic drink is going to be as low in calories as a glass of water. But to put things in perspective, one regular 12 ounce bottle of beer contains about 150 calories. A vodka and cranberry 172 calories and a daiquiri can have 314 calories. In fact, beer has one of the lowest calories of any alcoholic beverage.
Beer can be easy to drink.
Not all beer is bitter. Beer makers have let their imaginations run wild, adding everything from pumpkin to pomegranate to their beers. There are so many beers to suit your palate. One popular choice is Fruli is an all natural, Belgian strawberry wheat beer made with a blend of coriander, orange peel and pure strawberries. It’s high in B-complex vitamins, low glycemic and free of any additives, including sugar and preservatives. Women are also going wild for Stiegl Grapefruit Radler, which has a tart flavour, citrusy aroma and is very effervescence. The Mort Subite is a little extra fun with it’s cork top, just like wine!
Beer pairs well with food.
Some of the most interesting foods in the world are served with beer, such as Japanese food or Indian. They can quench your thirst, cleanse your palete or take the heat off after spicy food. You can even use beer in cooking instead of wine. (Use lagers instead of white wine and dark ales instead of red wine.) Steam Whistle has a great recipe collection to help inspire your menu.
