Found on the north coast of Jamaica, Ocho Rios provides the best in friendly, relaxed attitude, with a little romance thrown in.
Jamaica is known for its chill vibe, so if you’re looking to decompress after the craziness of wedding planning, consider Ocho Rios.
Begin at Couples Tower Isle, an adults-only resort that will provide you with much-needed quiet downtime. No kids running around. No loud sports or competitions on the pool deck. No volleyballs splashing you as you sip your rum punch. It’s truly a place to connect with your partner. Guests return year after year and consider the resort their second home (some couples have returned more than 50 times!). The resort recognizes their “family” with a weekly repeat-guest dinner.
No honeymoon is complete without a couple’s massage, so visit the Oasis Spa for the ultimate in pampering (if you rent a villa, you’ll receive unlimited spa treatments). After that, if you’re feeling brave, take a one-minute boat ride over to Tower Isle’s private island, where clothing is not “optional,” it is strictly prohibited. Enjoy the beach or pool in the buff!
In the evening, enjoy a romantic dinner at Bayside, overlooking the Caribbean Sea.
Not far from Couples Tower Isle is Couples Sans Souci, their sister resort, which is overwhelmingly lush with vegetation. Book a snorkeling excursion or watch a cooking demonstration. A nude beach can also be found at Couples Sans Souci.
When you’re in the Ocho Rios area, the one absolute must-do is a visit to Dunn’s River Falls. The falls are 55 m high, but 183 m long, creating a semi-easy climb to the top, right through the falls. You’ll want to wear water shoes to battle the slippery spots. Reaching the top will leave you with a sense of accomplishment and joyfulness. It’s hard to explain, so you’ll have to give it a try. Go early in the morning to avoid crowds from the cruise ships.
Don’t forget to add a catamaran trip to your itinerary. Couples Tower Isle offers a tour that gives new meaning to the words “booze cruise.” The music will be pumping, the sun shining and your cup(s) will never be empty.
