Jessica Pietrusiak & Adam Rochwerg
This campy wedding had it all: cabins, camp counsellors, a bonfire, canoes and the beautiful scenery of northern Ontario.
Camp life: 250 people came to spend a weekend in the Ontario wilderness, sleeping in camper cabins. On Friday night, everyone celebrated with a plaid party around a bonfire. During the day on Saturday, all of the guests were free to explore the camp, hike, swim, rock climb, canoe, kayak, or really anything they wanted to try. Adam says, “It was amazing to see our family friends enjoying the water slides! We had a beer canoe out all weekend so guests could help themselves to a drink, and then sit back, relax, and enjoy the Algonquin wilderness.”
Local love: “We tried to use local vendors and products, and to have other parts of our wedding handmade by us or family,” says Adam. “Jess’s sister did her hair and makeup, which was very special.”
Making time: Adam says that time became an issue, no matter how organized things seemed. “There was so much to do in the final week. For example, we had all of our stuff ready to go into the truck so it could go up to camp, but we never allotted enough time to actually load the truck. That took way longer than we expected. A few small things like that, and suddenly we were busier than we meant to be.”
Honeymoon: The couple rented a camper van and drove around New Zealand for three weeks.
