Dina and Jean went to university together, however, their paths never crossed on campus even though they shared many mutual friends. It wasn’t until a class trip to Muskoka in their final year that they met and hit it off, over eight years ago.
Jean took Dina on a surprise road trip to Thousand Islands in October of 2013. The ferry brought the two to Heart Island on the U.S. coast. The island is shaped like a heart and on it there is a castle that a husband built for his ill wife in the beginning of the 1900s. Dina loves to visit castles so Jean brought her to the island and proposed in the garden outdoors.
Dina’s favourite wedding moment was a sweet and simple gesture by her new husband. The couple had always envisioned their wedding ceremony outdoors, but when the day came it was a little colder than anticipated. So the groom spent the entire ceremony rubbing the bride’s arms to keep her warm. “This was one aspect of the ceremony, more so than the personalized vows, that the guests all remember,” says the bride.
One of the couple’s favourite wedding details was their grand wedding finale. “The fireworks show was amazing – all of our guests loved it,” says Dina.
