There’s a particular kind of magic at a wedding where the setting feels grand but the moments feel entirely personal. Taliyah and Philip’s Hotel Saskatchewan wedding had all the elegance of a celebration at Regina’s historic landmark, with a playful energy that made it entirely their own. Photographer Rachel Baskin of Baskin Creative Co. captured both – and a few moments that might just steal your heart.
A little romance in every room
The Hotel Saskatchewan gave Rachel plenty to work with. Its sweeping staircase, gilded mirrors and richly furnished rooms made a gorgeous backdrop for Taliyah and Philip’s portraits. In one image, her gown spills across the stairs as they pause together; in another, they’re curled up on a patterned sofa, smiling at each other as though the camera has disappeared.
Their wedding style played beautifully against the hotel’s old-world details. Philip wore a blue suit and bow tie, while Taliyah’s full-skirted gown brought its own sense of drama. Rachel made space for both the polished portraits and the affectionate little moments between them.
Surrounded by their favourite people
Vows were exchanged in the Regency Ballroom, with family and friends there to witness it. Having so many loved ones together also made the family portraits an important part of the day – a chance to capture the people who have shaped their lives and are now celebrating this next chapter with them.
The reception carried that warmth into the evening. Blue and white florals added a soft touch to the ballroom, while a seating chart reading “Together with our favourite people” said something lovely about the couple’s priorities. And when Taliyah and Philip entered the reception, Philip’s arms went up in celebration, guests applauded and any remaining formality seemed to fall away.
A celebration with personality
The reception brought a playful side to the hotel’s grand surroundings. Taliyah and Philip’s blue and white floral cake held a bright red surprise inside, and the two shared bites with each other after cutting it. Later, they dashed down the chandelier-lit hallway together, creating some incredibly fun pictures.
It was a fitting end to a Hotel Saskatchewan wedding that felt both elegant and full of life. The ballroom was beautiful, but the real joy was in seeing Taliyah and Philip celebrate with the people they love – and have so much fun doing it.
