Alyssa & Cody
Wearing a Casablanca dress, Alyssa said “I do” to Cody at the Riu Ocho Rios. Twenty-four guests travelled from Winnipeg and Toronto to the warmth of Jamaica.
Group trip:
All 24 guests went on an excursion to Dunn’s River Falls to spend some quality time together. Dunn’s River Falls is a popular tourist attraction that allows visitors to hike right up the falls; it’s a can’t-miss in Jamaica!
Toughest part to plan:
Not being able to see the venue or have in-
person discussions with vendors is the tricky part of planning a destination wedding, says
Alyssa. “Also, having to run around a giant resort to finalize all of the wedding day details (which can be overwhelming if you are only there for a week!). It took me a full day to get everything organized.”
Advice to couples:
Alyssa says, “It can be easy to get wrapped up in pleasing your guests because they spent time and money to be with you on your big day, but it is important to make couple time for just the two of you. Better yet, stay an extra week so you have alone time once everyone else goes home!”
Photo ops:
The great thing about destination weddings is the endless supply of gorgeous photoshoot locations. Alyssa and Cody were able to do a first-look session, as well as a “trash the dress” session in the ocean.
