Guillaume and Alanna met in Montreal where they both worked at a small firm. After three months of working together, Guillaume accepted a job in Toronto. The two kept in touch and saw each other again at a conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia a few weeks later. During this trip, they realized they were meant to be. From that moment, they began a long-distance relationship for six months before Alanna finally moved to Toronto.
On a cold night in March 2012, Alanna came home after work to find a bouquet of roses, her suitcase packed and two plane tickets to Halifax. “I was so surprised – Guillaume was flying me out to the city where we shared our first kiss,” says the bride. After a romantic candlelit dinner, Guillaume got down on one knee and proposed. “After many, many tears (from both of us), I happily said yes.”
The couple’s favourite wedding moment involved all of their guests on the dancefloor. “Our DJ played the song ‘Shake Shake Shake Senora’ so Guillaume and I started a little congo line with a few of our friends,” recalls Alanna. “We started dancing through the rows of tables and all of a sudden I looked behind me and EVERYONE had joined in the line! It was so much fun seeing everyone join in and take part in our celebration.”
When it came time to plan their wedding details, the couple had many discussions with their wedding planner, Elyna Kuddish from Unity Weddings about what sort of reception décor they would have. “They did such a great job at reflecting the candlelight and creating both a warm yet modern space,” says Alanna. “Many of our guests told us that our tables were too nice to even eat on.”
