Sure, call us dramatic, but it’s true! There is something so satisfying about watching two favourite TV characters tie the knot. Here’s our list of TV nuptials that have us waxing nostalgic and ready to scream, “I do” at our screens.
1. Uncle Jesse and Aunt Becky, Full House (February 15, 1991)
Why we loved it: One word: “Forever”. Not only did fans get hilarity and hijinks as Jesse tried to make it to the altar, but part two of the dual-episode wedding saw Jesse serenading his new bride with the now iconic song.
Lesson learned: If you go skydiving on your wedding day, you will end up in a tomato truck in rural Nebraska.
2. Phoebe and Mike, Friends (February 12, 2004)
Why we loved it: With steel drums, falling snow and Chandler as acting father of the bride, this later-season wedding saw quirky gal pal Phoebe marrying her “lobster” Mike Hannigan.
Lesson learned: Every bride should hire Monica Gellar as their wedding planner.
3. Kelly Kapowski and Zack Morris, Saved by the Bell (October 7, 1994)
Why we loved it: After watching Zach womanize his way through Bayside High, then seeing Kelly almost blow it with Professor Jeremiah Laskey at UCLA, it was just so satisfying to watch these two high school sweethearts end up together.
Lesson learned: You may not be able to throw a wedding in Vegas for $1,200, but you can sure have fun trying.
4. Kate and Toby, This Is Us (March 13, 2018)
Why we loved it: So. Much. Emotion. Honestly, we’re still a little raw from this one. Watching Kate and Toby walk down the aisle after going through so much in season two had us bawling happy tears.
Lesson learned: Happily saying, “I do” doesn’t always mean happily ever after. In some cases it means putting your vows to the test and, together, facing the s*** that life can throw your way.
5. Amy Farrah Fowler and Sheldon, Big Bang Theory (May 10, 2018)
Why we loved it: Her gown may not have been what we would have picked, but these off-beat intellectuals stayed true to themselves every step of the way. Plus, Sheldon’s vows.
Lesson learned:There is truly someone for everyone and that’s an amazing and beautiful thing.
6. Leslie Knope and Ben Wyatt, Parks and Recreation (February 21, 2013)
Why we loved it: Because we will always “Vote Knope” and couldn’t have been more thrilled to see Leslie end up with Ben, a man who truly appreciated the strong, independent, unique woman that Leslie is. The three-legged-dog as flower girl didn’t hurt either.
Lesson learned: It’s not about the flowers, dress and open bar (though that’s part of it); it’s about celebrating the love you share with all of your favourite people in the world… and Jerry.
7. Donna Martin and David Silver, Beverly Hills 90210 (May 17, 2000)
Why we loved it: It only made sense that this beloved drama would end with these two getting married. Plus, a few familiar faces made it back for the ceremony, so fans had a chance to say goodbye.
Lesson learned: When they’re the one you’re supposed to be with, you’ll know it.
8. Naley, One Tree Hill (May 11, 2004 and May 3, 2006)
Why we loved it: These two. They’re just the stuff true love is made of. Nathan and Haley may have walked down the aisle together twice with a couple of glitches along the way, but more than anything they taught viewers that occasionally, young love can prevail.
Lesson learned: More often than not it’s worth fighting for the things, or people you know are so important to your life that you are better with them then without.
