Jessica & Chris
Seventy-two guests watched this couple say, “I do” in a pretty ceremony. And like most weddings this year, it wasn’t exactly what the bride and groom had planned, but pretty close!
Tell us about your love story: We first met over a dating App, but the thing was that we could have easily bumped into each other during our regular travels! Chris was in town for Thanksgiving and asked me out on a first date. We enjoyed each other’s company so much that we decided to give long-distance dating a shot. That summer Chris moved back to be closer. Chris proposed during a getaway trip to the place where we first fell in love: Huntsville, Ont. He popped the question when we were hiking in Algonquin Park on a cliff look-out spot where there was a breathtaking view. The rest is history!
What were your original plans for your wedding day? We had originally planned to have around 100 guests at our wedding. We were very lucky in that Ontario opened up to stage 3 just in time for our wedding. This allowed us to have more of the wedding we had originally dreamt of.
What was your favourite part of the day? A highlight of our day was our first look by the lake, it was so special and intimate to have that alone time together. Another highlight for us was our first dance outside at sunset with string lights, we danced a choreographed dance to “You Are the Best Thing” by Ray Lamontagne.
Favourite wedding detail? Our favourite wedding detail was the guest place cards that Jessica personalized in calligraphy hand writing.
What advice can you give to couples who are thinking about having an outdoor wedding? With an outdoor wedding, the weather can change quickly, so renting a tent or ensuring you have covered space is important. Outdoor heaters are also great for making sure guests are comfortable. We also loved our vintage-style string light canopy we rented for dancing under the stars at night; the string lights added some beautiful ambiance!
