These simple solutions will have you down the aisle and saying, “I do” in no time – and looking good while you do!
- Release stubborn wrinkles in a dress or shirt without ironing by hanging the garment as close to the shower as possible while the warm water runs. Keep any windows or doors closed to build up steam, for even more wrinkle-fighting power.
- Lose or break your zipper pull? Put a paper clip, bobby pin or safety pin through the metal loop of the slider (the area of the zipper that moves up and down) and you’re good to go.
- Stretch too-tight shoes with these easy steps: Fill two plastic sandwich bags with water, seal (tape the tops if you’re worried about leaks) and place in the toe of the shoe. Place shoes in the freezer overnight. As the water freezes, the ice will expand and stretch the shoes. You can also try this one with a shoe-shaped bottle or even a potato!
- Fake it ‘til you make it! Fool guests without sacrificing glam by wearing fake diamond earrings. False gems are hard for untrained eyes to spot.
- Snap fancy clip-on earrings onto ballet flats or your fave pumps for an instant upgrade.
- Stop a run in your tights from spreading by applying a thin layer of clear nail polish over the rip.
- Use a salad spinner to wring out your damp, hang-dry-only clothing if you’re short on drying time.
- Remove unsightly deodorant stains by rubbing the spot with a pair of light wash jeans. Baby wipes should also do the trick.
- Not sure how to support your ladies in a dress with a deep-V neck without your bra showing? Try Kim Kardashian’s duct-tape trick to keep boobs perky without a bra. Essentially, you create tape “suspenders”, by applying the tape underneath the breast, lifting, then pressing the other end of the tape along skin to over the shoulder. Don’t believe us? Google it! You’ll be amazed.
- Close the gap on a pesky waist that just won’t close with an elastic band. Loop the band through the button hole, then loop the open end over the button.
- Don’t let a little stain get you down! Even red wine can be removed with some quick thinking. Immediately after the spill, dampen a paper towel or light-coloured cloth with hot water and cover the towel with dish soap. Slightly rub the dish soap into the paper towel then use the towel to gently rub the stain from the outside in. Once it looks like the stain has been removed, use another wet, light-coloured towel to remove the soap. Air dry or blow dry if you are tight on time.
- Spill bleach on a black bridesmaid dress? Cover it up easily with a black Sharpie marker.
