James and Nadine met at work. They are both education assistants for a special needs school in Peel region, Ont. James continued to ask Nadine out for more than a year until she finally said yes. A single mom for several years, it was important to Nadine that the man she married loved her daughter, Jessica, as his own. But James went above and beyond. “James won me over when I saw how good he is with my mom, who is paraplegic and suffered a stroke,” says the bride.
During March Break, James took Nadine away to a spa in Niagara on the Lake. He poured them each a glass of wine and got down on one knee right there in front of the fireplace and proposed. The two were married in Georgetown, Ont., at Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club on July 7 before 80 guests. Jessica was the maid of honour. Aside from James’ personalized vows, their favourite moment of the night was when James surprised Nadine and their guests with a fireworks display. “He leaned down and whispered, ‘Every princess deserves a fairy tale ending.'”
Other exciting details that made the wedding so memorable: A Ghost Busters groom’s cake, the 1950s Rolls Royce limo that the girls took to the venue, and the photo booth and homemade “meant-to-bee” honey jars gifted as favours. After the wedding, they all took a school bus back to the hotel.
