Lyndsey and Jason Rebelo were married on April 28, 2012 in Toronto, before 101 guests. Their reception and ceremony were held at Graydon Hall Manor. They used their first-dance song, “Feels Like Home,” as the theme for their wedding. “It was one of the reasons why we chose Graydon Hall – a former home – as a venue,” says the bride. They chose soft colours – pale pinks, greens and yellows and white – because they were married in the spring.
It was a perfectly romantic day for a couple who became engaged in a perfectly romantic way. “I decided to propose in Niagara Falls during my birthday weekend, giving himself the best birthday gift ever – my future wife.”
Their wedding day was such a whirlwind. They made sure to follow the best advice they received: take a few moments to share together. The bride and groom snuck out the back door where they could see their closest family and friends dancing in in candlelight. “Taking just five minutes together to breathe and enjoy each other’s company alone was one of the most romantic moments of the whole evening.”
The couple says their favorite detail was the “home” feel where the venue was lit up with candles and fireplaces. Almost everything had a story to it from the framed photographs of the couple’s parents on their wedding day, the bride’s veil and ring bearer pillow was passed down from the bride’s mother, the invitations and save the date magnets designed by the bride’s brother. For table numbers, since the groom’s family came from Portugal and the bride’s father from The Netherlands, each table had a photo highlighting different areas of their parent’s homeland with the head table having a picture of Niagara Falls to represent the couple’s engagement. Handmade booklets were made from old fashioned patterned paper for the ceremony and the wedding cake toppers were hand painted by the bride’s sister.
“Everything had a personal touch, making the day intimate and cozy,” says the bride.
