Lauren and Brad met at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, England where they were both doing their Master’s Degrees. They were introduced because they were the only two Canadians at school, and for a couple of foreigners, dating in England was the best! They were tourists together all year long and when their time in England was over, they came back to Canada & moved in together in Toronto. Eventually, Coco the dog was added to the mix.
To propose, Brad took a picture of Coco sitting on a chair with a piece of paper that said “Mommy, Daddy has a question for you”, and kept that photo on his phone for later. During a 30th birthday getaway for Lauren in Chicago, Brad handed Lauren the photo, got down on one knee and asked her to marry him in the middle of Millennium Park.
One of the couple’s favourite wedding moments was Amy, their Master of Ceremonies (MC). Since Brad and Lauren are both in the entertainment industry, their MC decided to make the night like an awards ceremony. “Calling up those who were giving speeches like nominees for a category like ‘Best Actor’ was so funny,” said the bride.
The couple’s other favourite wedding moment was the dancing. “We learned the foxtrot and promptly forgot it when we got on the dance floor, so we just laughed the entire time,” said the bride. Also, Lauren and her dad performed a hilarious father-daughter choreographed dance to “Uptown Funk” and the rest of the night just evolved into a big, awesome dance party.
For the couple’s favourite wedding details, they asked their friend, Ian, if he wouldn’t mind recording their ceremony for them. Since he’s a cinematographer, he decided that simply recording the couple’s wedding ceremony wasn’t good enough, so a few weeks after the wedding, he delivered an amazing wedding compilation video along with footage from the entire day. “It was such a touching and thoughtful gift,” said Lauren.
