Kelly and Tom met almost 10 years ago through a mutual friend (one of the groomsmen) and became instant friends. Their first vacation together was a weekend in Paris where they fell in love. “We knew that if we could travel well together we would be great at living together,” says Kelly. The couple soon moved in together and had two beautiful children, Samuel and Tessa. Tom proposed to Kelly at Sam’s 2nd birthday party. He hid the ring in Sam’s birthday cake, and Kelly bit into it. Tom was waiting down on one knee and Kelly said yes in front of both of their families.
They were married on July 21 in Belleville, Ont., at the groom’s family cottage before 106 guests. The theme was cottage chic with lots of green, including green apples for décor. “Walking into the tent together and seeing the whole place set up and ready for our wedding before anyone arrived was magical,” says Kelly. “It actually took my breath away to stand there with Tom and see how everything had come together exactly how we had been picturing it for months. It was a very emotional moment for both of us.”
Tom’s highlight was the homemade jam that was handed out as favours. Kelly loved the chandeliers that were hung from the trees, the black-and-white-checkered dance floor, her dress, shoes, the perfect weather, and even the outdoor washrooms!
