Iman and Lakhdeep met at a multicultural event and the connection was immediate. They married in a traditional Sikh manner in Kitchener, Ont. Their holy book, Guru Granth Sahib, preaches equality, truth and compassion and encourages service to the community. Iman wore a gown in saffron, red and gold, with jewellery given by her parents and maternal uncle and aunt. The groom, in red brocade with matching turban arrived, accompanied by friends and relatives, dancing to the drum beat.
Both changed for the reception into ensembles that matched the blue and fuchsia colour theme of the reception. All gowns were designed in India. The reception was emceed by two dear friends; Deesha, a Juno-nominated singer/songwriter and singer Greg Denard, who performed at Paul McCartney’s wedding. Entertainment included Bhangra team SGPD, Davidson of iDRUM and sax player Miles Raine.
