Jessica & James
Plan A was a destination wedding in Jamaica, but the pandemic had other ideas. Jessica tells us all about her Plan B.
How did you feel after you changed your wedding plans? I felt a sense of relief when we changed our venue as there were less hoops to jump through as we no longer needed to travel abroad and had more control over the situation. This also allowed for more guests to come who weren’t able to travel before.
What was your favourite part of the day? I truly have many favourites from the day, such as seeing my vision come to life, but if I really had to pick one moment, it would be my father/daughter dancing with my dad! We hired a choreographer for a few months before the wedding and she crafted the perfect, fun dance for me and my dad! We practised twice a week for two months before the big day. Seeing everyone so excited and surprised while we did our dance was amazing. People still talk about it today.
Favourite wedding detail? My favourite detail was my 6-foot baby’s breath flower cloud hanging in our tent! It was so dreamy and I couldn’t stop staring at it! Our pampas arch at our ceremony was super dreamy as well.
What will guests remember most? I think our guests will remember the ambiance of the venue the most and the fun crowd. Our venue was my in-law’s beach house in Tiny, Ont., and we had a gorgeous tent with a 10-foot clear midsection so you could see the sky – combined with pastel flowers and gold cutlery, throw in a good dance party and what’s not to remember!
What advice can you give to couples during the wedding planning process? My advice is to truly enjoy the process. It comes and goes so fast. Try not to stress over things beyond your control. On the wedding day, I highly recommend not having your phone on you so you can truly be present. Take a moment during the reception to take it all in.
