Natalie Spooner & Adam Redmond
This hockey superstar bride has an Olympic silver medal and two Olympic golds. She and her now-husband may not be able to agree how they met (at the Calgary Stampede or on the ice), but they can agree they each found the one, making them both winners.
Getting personal: It’s all about making your wedding personal and unique. “We added in little pieces that made sure it felt personal,” says Natalie. “From having hockey sticks as wedding favours, to having old wedding family photos around, to having one of my brothers stand on my side, we felt the whole day really represented us.”
Missing you: With travel restrictions in place, some guests weren’t able to attend. “Some of my bridesmaids weren’t able to travel in from the States,” says Natalie. “It was tough not having them there, but our friend and MC made a beautiful video that included all of them, which made it really special.”
Roll with it: The best piece of advice this bride can offer is to be flexible during planning. “Things change so it’s good to have options going into it. The day of our wedding, it ended up raining so we were forced to move the ceremony into the tent instead of having it on the beach, but we were prepared for that.”
