For couples dreaming of a destination wedding that blends elegance with intimacy, this story is pure inspiration. A Canadian pair, Colin and Jason, traded the Atlantic for the French countryside – and created something unforgettable.
Surrounded by a small group of 21 family members and close friends, Colin and Jason travelled from Halifax to the enchanting town of Mouriès de Provence in the South of France. “For seven unforgettable days, we made ourselves at home in a private villa that became the picture-perfect backdrop for an intimate and elegant destination wedding,” says Colin.

After a few days of exploring historical towns, picturesque countryside and delicious foods, the couple woke up to their September wedding day. The morning began with a chef-prepared breakfast – a feast of fresh local fruits, cured meats, pastries and the most heavenly French bread. Following breakfast, the wedding party sprang into action, adding the finishing touches to ensure every detail was perfect – the setup, the flowers and all the little things that make a day extraordinary. Meanwhile, their guests enjoyed the villa’s amenities, relaxed by the pool and soaked up the ambience.
“As two fairly casual guys, we didn’t need an entire day to prepare, so we took our time, laughing, chatting and savouring glasses of exquisite French wine. Before the ceremony, we shared a “first look” in the villa’s charming piano room – a moment filled with laughter, happy tears and a joyful anticipation of the life ahead,” says Colin.
At 3:30 p.m., the guests took their seats on the sandstone patio – surrounded by hydrangea and native flowers – for the ceremony. Officiated by a family member, the ceremony included a heartfelt gesture – a box filled with notes from each guest, meant to be opened on the couple’s first anniversary. “It was a beautiful, sentimental touch that we will treasure forever.”

After the destination wedding ceremony, everyone participated in a relaxed photo session before settling down for a dinner that can only be described as divine. Prepared by a chef using fresh local ingredients, the meal was as delicious as it was memorable. Following speeches, the evening ended with dancing on the villa’s terrace under a canopy of 300-year plane trees.
