Deanna and Mark met at the University of Windsor – two guitarists trying to start a metal band! Years later, he proposed in Paris, just a few steps from the Eiffel tower. Once, when Mark was in Ireland on business, there was a long separation. Deanna flew to Dublin, they realized how lonesome they were without each other, and they set the wedding date. The service was at Rosedale United Church.
The theme was 1920s Art Deco and inspired by peacock feathers. Deanna’s gown was a mermaid silhouette with a train suggestive of peacock plumage. Her bouquet was calla lilies lined with ostrich plumes. She wore a feather fascinator in her hair, as did the bridesmaids. Two bridesmaids wore flapper dresses and two dressed in 20s Hollywood glamour. Mark wore a white tail coat, top hat, white gloves, Art Deco cane and a monocle on a gold chain. The groomsmen reflected the mafia of the era with pin-striped suits and fedoras. Even the cake was Art Deco with asymmetric layers and a foundation of Toblerone and Hershey chocolate bars.
