When Catherine and Vito Labate met for their first date the spark between them was instant. “As soon as he touched my lower back to escort me into the restaurant I knew I was done,” shares Catherine. “We are both self-proclaimed foodies and we were having such a good time that we actually forgot to eat.”
The Labates, who met through an online dating website, dated for three years before tying the knot in front of 210 guests on October 30, 2010. They held an autumn-themed wedding at the Fermenting Cellar at the Distillery District in Toronto. The bride’s favourite moment was when she walked down the aisle and saw her husband-to-be.
“(I) saw Vito standing there with a huge smile on his face. He is the most amazing man and as soon as I saw him, I knew that everything in my life would be just fine,” says Catherine.
The couple shared their first dance to Lucky by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat, a song they say describes their relationship. The bride says her favourite wedding details were the cakes – 21 different flavoured cakes in total! Guests at each table cut the cake at the same time as the couple, and one guest at each table won the cake stand to take home along with the second layer of cake.
