The bridal collection will be featured at the CurvyExpo fashion show on May 14 at the International Centre in Mississauga.
Jai International has included plus size gowns in their collections for 20 years. Six years ago they felt the market needed a line especially designed for the curvy figure, and Callista was born.
The designs weren’t just a case of expanding small sizes. They were designed with the fuller figure in mind, with construction and sizing to give the best support to show off the bride’s figure.
It is interesting that retailers responded so enthusiastically to Callista. They had known for a long time that this market was under-served because the average woman in North America is a size 14 and almost 45 percent are a size 16 or above. Since it was introduced six years ago, Callista has become the fastest growing line in all of the Jai International collections.
The fashion shows at the CurvyExpo show will have lingerie, swim, sportswear and dresses, but will end with the Callista bridal gowns. They also can be seen at the Callista booth.
The one-day show is full of fun and activities from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. There’s shopping, five special guest speakers giving seminars from fulfilling your potential to how to update your makeup, a Zumba class, contests, lucky draws and more. (For a discount on your ticket purchase, go to Penningtons or Addition Elle, and ask them about the promo code for Eventbrite.ca.)
Buy your ticket early because space is limited and tickets cost more at the door. Visit www.curvyexpo.com for more information.
“CurvyExpo is an ideal place to showcase the Callista line because brides-to-be will see the available extras. For example, the line makes laces and trims available so a bride can add her own elements to her dress.
“The curvy community is coming together on May 14 to celebrate fashion and body positivity, so Callista bridal was a natural fit for the show,” says Meghan Bradley, Director, CurvyExpo.
