Melanie and Chris met while attending university. Chris claims the first time he remembers Melanie was at a Halloween party where she was dressed as a swimmer with sunscreen on her nose. It wasn’t until a ski trip months later that Melanie and Chris connected. They spent quality time together, discovering their mutual passion for mountains and adventures.
On a rainy Vancouver day years later, Chris and Melanie set out to hike the Stawamus Chief. At the top of the mountain, Chris dropped to one knee and proposed! For Melanie, it was such an unexpected moment because they both were wearing sweat pants and rain gear, soaked and exhausted. The answer was still yes!
The couple’s favourite wedding moment was the slideshow Melanie’s maid of honour and sister spearheaded. “At the end of this wonderful trip down memory lane, there was a photo from earlier in the day of Chris and I, and it was the first time we realized it was actually our wedding day and we were finally husband and wife,” says the bride.
As for the couple’s favourite wedding detail, it was all about their reception decor. “We adorned the fireplace with pillar candles and lined the hearth with raised tealights and flowers, so the fireplace really lit up the room as the sun started to set,” says Melanie.
