Amanda and Stephen met their family and wedding party in the afternoon at James Gardens in Toronto for formal photos – and then the group had dinner before proceeding to St. Joan of Arc Church for the evening wedding.
The wedding was followed by a cocktail reception at Atlantis Pavilions which has a view across Lake Ontario, giving their many out-of-town guests an impressive outline of the Toronto skyline. En route to the reception, Amanda and Stephen spontaneously stopped at the CNE for some fun, to the amusement of exhibition visitors. Stephen is an editor and award-winning science fiction writer and Amanda is a graphic designer (who creates interesting wedding invitations). So, the talented couple had agreed that the combination of words and design would be the inspiration for their black-and-white palette. Stephen made cufflinks for the groomsmen and Amanda created purses for the bridesmaids. She also designed and made the black and white pillows and coffee table runners at the reception site. A photo booth created their visual guest book.
