Sarah Thawer and Kamran Jessani began dating in high school. Ten years later he proposed as the sun was setting on a beach in Barbados. Then the wedding plans began.
The Thursday before the wedding, 400 guests were entertained at the Grand Empire Banquet and Convention Centre in an event that was Indian-inspired in theme, with an explosion of brilliant colours; royal blues, red, purple, pink and orange. Fun games were played, caricature artists sketched all the guests and dinner was followed by dancing.
The following Saturday, 800 guests gathered at the International Centre. This time the sophisticated, glamorous setting had theme colours of lilac, pale turquoise, white and silver. The couple had a custom monogram designed which was incorporated into every detail, from the invitations and stationery to the custom white vinyl dance floor.
“ The song for my dance with my dad was the Beatles ‘I want to hold your hand’. We used to sing it together when I was little and we had such fun with it. It was NOT your typical slow dance,” laughs Sarah.
The couple honeymooned in Fiji, Australia, Bali, Singapore and Maldives.
