Susie and Nick met in high school when they were just 15 years old, and they knew they would love each other forever. In fact, when Nick proposed 11 years later, it was in the same spot in the school yard where they met and shared their first kiss. Talk about a romantic proposal!
Nick and Susie have shared a lot together during their time together as a couple, but their wedding guests were perhaps the most excited about their pending nuptials. “When we told our family and friends we were engaged, the most common reaction was ‘it’s about time’, but in our minds it was the perfect timing,” says Susie.
There were so many favourite wedding moments for Susie and Nick on their big day, the couple couldn’t narrow it down to just one! “There were so many surprises that day… from a surprise kissing game created by my brother, to the poem my nieces and nephews recited in front of everyone, to the surprise serenade of a song from the movie The Wedding Singer by my sister and brother in-law,” says Susie. “I didn’t even know my sister could sing!”
As for the couple’s favourite wedding detail? It was all about their theme. “Incorporating butterflies into our wedding, since they remind me of my grandmother who passed away when I was young, this meant a lot to me,” says Susie. “At the end of the ceremony when the Pastor pronounced Nick and I husband and wife, my nephew released a box of butterflies and it was beautiful.”
