Some wedding styles fade as quickly as they arrive. Others linger because they evoke a special feeling. This nostalgic maximalism editorial blends vintage glamour with a fresh, contemporary perspective, proving that bold colour, rich texture and heirloom-inspired details can feel every bit as elegant as a minimalist celebration.
The concept
Sunday Love & Co., a Toronto-based event planning company, brought together a dream team of local creatives to plan and design a styled shoot at MY HOUSE, a restaurant and bar with plenty of character in the city’s Junction neighbourhood. The concept was “Nostalgic Maximalism”: 60s and 70s glam, reimagined for today. Bold texture and rich colour, softened into something more elegant. An indulgent, playful take on Gen X youth culture filtered through a modern lens.
That tension between maximalism and restraint shaped every design decision. Sunday Love & Co. curated a cohesive vision across draping, tablescape, cake and styling, all built around a story rather than a single trend: 1950s-inspired pipe and drape from Singh Bros Event Rentals in layered satin and velvet, a table set by Velare Event Rentals with lavender floral wreath china, ornate gold scrollwork flatware, cut crystal glassware for old world glamour, and an all-white Lambeth style cake from Sweet Tooth Bakery, maximalist in texture but monochromatic in colour.

Floral design
Florals from Mossy Floral Design anchored the room’s softness. Varieties stayed intentionally minimal: bearded iris, pansies, campanula and the very last lilac of the season, hand-picked by the florist herself. The arrangements leaned sculptural, echoing the shoot’s push and pull between vintage sentiment and contemporary form.

Bridal style
The bridal look carried the same balance. Hair was worn fully down, soft and voluminous, to make space for a polka-dot Juliet veil, paired with soft “Twiggy”- inspired makeup leaning into silvery blues, courtesy of Mercedes Lee Beauty. The Chic Bridals gown, an effortless Gemini silhouette in stretch mikado with a clean trailing A-line skirt, featured removable sheer sleeves for two distinct looks. Blair Nadeau Bridal’s polka-dot Juliet veil, brass floral brooch, and Art Deco pearl medallion earrings added heirloom warmth.
Guest experience
A standout detail: guests could pick up a vintage rotary phone from The Keepsake Line and leave an audio message, an unscripted, tactile alternative to the traditional guestbook. Photography was captured by Vanessa Rose Photography.
Designed for couples who love character
This styled wedding inspiration suits couples who want their wedding to feel like a story rather than a trend, and those drawn to heirloom glamour, tactile richness, and a bit of drama without losing warmth or intimacy.
