Allie & John
This beautiful day ended with the bride and groom singing, dancing and laughing with friends and family.
How they met: “John and I met while working for a tourism company on the Halifax waterfront, Murphys,” says Allie. “John was the captain of a 75 foot ketch, the Mar. I worked as a ‘dock girl’, catching his lines as he docked the boat. We started dating summer 2013 while working for Murphys. He had been accepted into Medical School in the Caribbean shortly after. He moved to Nevis, West Indies January 2014 to pursue his studies at MUA. We spent the next 5 years doing long distance.”
Mama’s girl: Allie explains, “I grew up as an only child and my mom as a single mom. It was just the two of us; we were like the Gilmore Girls. Although my amazing step dad joined our family during my teen years, and he was incredible, my mom was the person in my life that really made me who I am today. Because of this, I had her walk me down the isle and danced with her during the typical ‘father daughter’ dance.”
Don’t forget to eat! “We forgot about needing to eat during the day,” says Allie. “The bridal party was so busy getting ready in the morning, rushing to the ceremony and then heading straight for photos afterwards, we all forgot to eat! Halfway through photos we all thought we were going to faint. Luckily some wedding guests came to the rescue with crackers, cheese and water bottles! Make sure to pack yourself food for the day!”
