Their relationship started with a phone call. Not a text, not a Facebook message or a tweet. And for Heidi, the long phone conversations are what set Lee apart from all the other men out there. After dating for over a year, Heidi and Lee Rumohr were married in Toronto at the Fermenting Cellar in The Distillery District before 190 guests. The couple share a love for traveling, sporting events and dinner dates. They can have fun together no matter where they are; they love each other’s company.
“We accept each other for who we are or who we may not be,” says the bride. “We became friends and partners in life.”
For the wedding, the couple did not want a traditional banquet hall wedding, so they thought outside of the box for some ideas. The couple fell in love with the Fermenting Cellar and its old-world charm. With exposed beams and concrete floors, they knew it would be beautiful highlighted with purple lights on the wall and candles. They created a candlelight theme of grey and purple tones that were accented by the dark undertones of the venue. The bride loved the low purple and white hydrangea and rose centerpieces on each table that set the mood. The red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing were the bride and groom’s favourite; made with love.
Because it is so easy to get carried away with the wedding industry, the bride and groom figured out some simple ways to stay true to their budget. They designed their invitations online, printed all of their programs and seating charts themselves and had a close friend make their cupcakes. This way, they were able to have the wedding they wanted, with a price they could afford.
The couple’s inspiration for the wedding was to treat their wedding day like the way they approach life – with love and laughter. That is exactly what they got from their wedding.
