It was a perfect summer day when Gwen and Ryan were married on the family farm in Little Britain, Ontario surrounded by 100 of their closest family and friends.
Ryan and Gwen met through a mutual friend nearly 12 years ago at a country fair and fell in love instantly. Over the years, life and two amazing boys kept the couple busy, but had never had the chance to make their family “official”. On Gwen’s birthday in the middle of a wintery cottage, with their boys and family there, Ryan got down on one knee and proposed. And of course Gwen said yes!
The couple’s favourite wedding moment was a surprise from Gwen’s father. Keeping with their rustic farm theme, Gwen’s dad restored a 1955 Allis Chalmers tractor to its original glory so that he could drive Gwen to the barn for her grand entrance. “A moment like that was more than I had ever dreamed of,” says Gwen.
Planning any wedding is a lot of work, as Gwen and Ryan now know. Almost every weekend before the wedding was spent at the family farm getting the working barn (full of cattle and hay bales) and farmyard ready for their wedding. As for the couple’s favourite detail, it was easy. Gwen and Ryan loved planning their dream day at their picture perfect location. “Every detail was exactly how we wanted our day to be, from the chandeliers to the landscaping and our theme of casual elegance,” says Gwen.
