Melissa Pizzardi understands the importance of wearing a proper fitting bra. After joining the Triumph team five years ago, she has been on a mission to bring smiles to satisfied woman she fits. Here’s our Q&A with Melissa as we discuss weddings, lingerie and everything you need to know about the right-fitting bra!
Today’s Bride: How do I know if my bra fits? Are there certain things I should look for or avoid? Do I need a bra fitting?
Melissa Pizzardi: A good indication that you’re wearing the incorrect size is that you are literally uncomfortable in your bra. TB: I’m wearing a backless gown and don’t want to go braless. What are my options?
MP: It is important to have impeccable bra support, especially on your wedding day. Think about this as you are choosing your gown; especially if you are a larger busted woman.
Keep in mind that 80% of our support comes from the band and removing that component will alter the level of support. Exploring a sewn-in bra is an option as it will provide some support and help shape your bust.
TB: How do I avoid visible back fat?
MP: You want to look for a style that features a wide band with minimal texture and flat edges that will help keep your back nice and smooth. Try the Triumph Shape Sensation series that features either a bonded or a laser cut edge to give you a seam-free finish.
TB: My strapless bra keeps sliding down. Is that supposed to happen?
MP: No. This certainly should not be happening with a strapless bra. Try going down a band size and look for styles that feature silicon grips inside the band to help keep it in place, like Triumph’s ‘Beauty-full’ strapless bra.
TB: I heard that some bras can be sewn into your wedding dress. Do you recommend this?
MP: This is a great option for a backless gown. It will help keep things in place. You won’t get maximum support but it surely is better than going bare.
TB: Are there certain styles or fabrics that will be best for under a dress?
MP: Avoid natural fibres that might cling. You want synthetic fabric blends that will allow your gown to hang and move freely. Always look for sturdy structured undergarments that will provide support and make you feel confident.
TB: What style of underwear is best? Are there certain cuts, colours or fabrics I should look for? Does the colour have to match my bra?
MP: Everybody’s body shape is different when it comes to panties, so look for a cut that flatters your shape and is comfortable. You can choose a shapewear piece to help give you some tummy support. Always keep in mind that seam-free finishes are best, especially when all eyes are on you.
TB: Are there any new trends in wedding undergarments I should know about and look for?
