Alexandra surprised Anthony with a trip to New York for his 30th birthday, because Alexandra figured the chef in Anthony would love to explore the city through as much food as they could handle in four days.
The couple was already living together and had talked about getting married, but Alexandra had no immediate expectations. On the first day there, the two walked into a shop that had estate jewelry; gorgeous one of a kind pieces. Both of them noticed the same ring, and Anthony suggested Alexandra try it on. It was just for fun, and Anthony could tell Alexandra loved it, but they walked out and continued exploring the city.
On the night of his birthday, the couple headed to a restaurant that had been recommended to them by a friend, called Extra Virgin. After a delicious meal and one too many drinks, Anthony asked the waitress to take a picture of them. Suddenly, Anthony was down on one knee, on a sidewalk in New York, asking Alexandra to be his wife…and it was all caught on camera! Anthony had told the waitress beforehand to film instead of take a picture because he wanted to propose!
Anthony was hoping that during their stay in NYC, Alexandra would hint to or find a ring she loved. Now, if getting proposed to once wasn’t good enough, the next morning Alexandra woke up and noticed that Anthony had already slipped out. He came back with that ring she had tried on the day before, and got down on his knee again and slipped that one-of-a-kind ring on her finger one last time.
The couple’s favourite wedding moment was walking into the barn of their reception as husband and wife. “We had only ever seen it bare… I had an idea of what it would look like after all the planning, but it turned out more perfect than I had ever expected,” says the bride.
And as for their favourite wedding detail, in lieu of favors the couple opted to make a donation to LOYAL Rescue. “Our dog Gioia was a rescue from a puppy mill in Ohio, and since adopting her we’ve become much more involved in animal welfare in order to help more dogs like Gioia,” says Alexandra It was important for us to give back on our day to a cause close to our hearts.
