Lucas and Stephanie met at her place during a backyard BBQ hosted by Stephanie’s roommate. “Lucas was the guy across the room on his phone that I rolled my eyes at,” says Stephanie. Once the two started chatting though, Stephanie found out that Lucas worked for the Canadian military and drove tanks in Afghanistan. After that, Stephanie was hooked! They had their first date the following Saturday and have been together ever since!
The couple got engaged on June 30, 2014 in a way that Stephanie will never forget. Lucas proposed while they were kayaking. “We were wearing bathing suits and sweating, but it was perfect because we were doing something that we loved to do together,” says Stephanie.
The couple’s favourite wedding moment was spending the day with all of their friends and family. “I put a lot of planning and thought into making sure the day would be a great experience not just for us as a couple, but for everyone coming out for the day,” says Stephanie.
The couple’s favourite wedding detail was their décor! I was worried about having all gold décor, however, I had a vision and all the metallic looked great mixed with splashes of pink,” says the bride. “I loved how our wedding was truly ‘our’ wedding. I mixed his nerdy elements such as Star Wars references and dinosaurs with my colour scheme and love of polka dots and baking.”
