Olivia and Tou fic met when Olivia had a toothache. She asked a friend if she could make an appointment on her behalf with her dentist, Dr. Lawen. She had many appointments, but when she had to cancel one at the last minute, Tou fic said, “It’s going to cost you.” She agreed that she would give him a cheque, but he said, “I was thinking more along the lines of dinner….” And it all began.
They were going to dinner one evening when he said he had to stop at his house and asked her to just wait in the car. When she finally went in to see what the delay was, the hall was strewn with rose petals and the rooms were lit with dozens of candles. Of course, she said “Yes”. Together they began to plan an extraordinary wedding.
They had a custom-designed floral photo wall where guests could be photographed with the prints delivered, on-site, in gold frames. An eight-foot floral chandelier with crystals and white lights and weighing over 300 pounds hung above the dance floor.
At the reception, the groom and his groomsmen made a grand entrance and danced around the guest tables. Then the bride entered with all of her attendants. Each was holding a white satin pashmina to conceal the bride until they reached the middle of the dance floor, when she was dramatically revealed and both parties danced in unison. An incredible range of food options was served at both the cocktail party and the dinner along with a huge dessert bar because, Olivia says, “We are both major ‘foodies’.”
The couple had a live band and singer as well as a DJ. The band played both traditional and modern Arabic music, the DJ played classics, R&B and Hip Hop. At the end of the evening (about 1 a.m.) a range of late-night bites were passed.
