Amanda met Andrew at a Halloween party during their final year of undergrad at Queen’s University. While dressed up as the classic board game “Operation,” Andrew struck up a conversation with Amanda after mistaking her Dalmatian costume for a cow costume. His ‘unforgettable’ opening line? “Hey, you’re a cow, right?”
To help keep the proposal a secret, Andrew had hidden the engagement ring in his parent’s basement. On January 31st, 2015, while Andrew took Amanda out for dinner at a local oyster bar, he called his parents to arrange that they plant the ring inside their condo while they were out. Andrew proposed after they returned home from dinner and the proposal was a “complete surprise” to Amanda.
Amanda and Andrew tied the knot at Holcim Waterfront Estate in Mississauga, surrounded by 145 of their closest friends and family. The wedding had a rustic and romantic feel, with a 4-piece quartet for the ceremony and lawn games before the reception.
A favourite wedding moment for the couple was celebrating and clinking champagne glasses with their bridal party immediately after the ceremony.
Some wedding advice that Amanda would give to future brides is to trust the expertise of the vendors as much as possible. “I trusted my vendors to pull off the perfect day.”
